Weight Loss Exercises - Which Ones Should You Do?

Nearly all of us are on some sort of weight loss program. Some of us are trying the latest fad diet, but hopefully most of us are on the healthier diets such as Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, FatLoss4Idiots, Atkins Diet or South Beach Diet. Whatever diet or weight loss program we are on, we all need to exercise to help us lose those unwanted pounds.

Weight loss exercise will get you the body you want! Instead of your fat turning into flab when you lose weight, with exercise, your muscles will become stronger, and your body will become firm and healthy. It may be hard at first to start an exercise program, but be patient. Start slowly, and build up to doing more and more each day. Always check with your doctor before starting any exercise program.

Not only do we become stronger & healthier through exercise, it burns up fat. When one thinks that just one pound of body fat equals 4,000 calories! That is incentive enough to start moving! When you start your weight loss exercise program slowly, day by day increase the time by ten minute increments, until you are doing at least 30 minutes per day or aerobic exercises. You can then slowly start cardio exercises, which will build muscle. The more muscle you have, the more fat you will burn.

Aerobic exercises include:

o Walking - make it enjoyable and walk in pretty places, or walk fast round the mall!
o Jogging - take your children or dog with you, they need the exercise too!
o Swimming - Swim laps in your local pool, and if you don't know how, then just move all the parts of your body. The resistance of the water really strengthens your arms and legs.
o Bicycling - again, choose trails in parks, or round your neighbourhood.

Weight training exercises include:

o Circuit training
o Elastic bands used as resistance training
o Weights (not huge) start with lifting light weights.

So don't waste precious time dieting without following a good exercise program. You will lose twice the amount of weight with exercise. Remember also that for your long term health and happiness choose a weight loss diet which has been tried and tested, such as those mentioned above. On these diets you are unlikely going to gain the weight back on.
